ABOUT LOUISA JEWELL

Most performance problems aren’t about talent or effort. Performance improves when leaders stop avoiding hard conversations and start using them to help people speak up early, challenge assumptions, and build confidence. I help leaders do exactly that by building high-trust, high-accountability environments. What’s often called psychological safety is frequently misunderstood as being nice or avoiding conflict. In reality, it’s about creating the conditions where teams can have candid conversations, make better decisions, and execute under pressure. When leaders get this right, performance improves—and work becomes more sustainable. For more than 25 years, I’ve worked at the intersection of positive psychology, leadership, decision-making, and organizational performance, partnering with leaders in complex, high-stakes environments. I earned my Master’s degree in Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and founded the Canadian Positive Psychology Association (CPPA) to advance evidence-based approaches to mental health and flourishing at work. What I Focus OnI help leaders translate values, trust, and accountability into everyday behaviour—where performance is actually won or lost. My work focuses on- Turning values into clear, observable leadership behaviours- Strengthening performance without burning people out- Improving decision-making under pressure- Building confidence, resilience, and ownership at every level- Changing how difficult conversations happen so accountability and trust increase togetherI’ve partnered with organizations across sectors from franchise systems and utilities to public institutions and non-profits, where safety, regulation, and execution matter.I’ve spoken to people internationally and am the author of Wire Your Brain for Confidence, host of Audible’s The Awesome Project, a Certified Psychological Health & Safety Advisor, former university professor, and a graduate of Second City. What I do is simple:I help leaders change the conversations they’re having, and the ones they’re avoiding, because that’s where performance, thriving, and culture are truly shaped. If you are struggling with complex people problems or just want to create a more human-centred work environment, call me.
