About Louis Tran
I’m a Computer Engineering student at UCLA with a passion for hardware design, robotics, and embedded systems. From circuit design and sensor integration in rover projects to exploring high-voltage systems in Bruin Formula Racing, I thrive on hands-on challenges. Currently, I\'m deepening my expertise through the Micromouse project with while also exploring PCB design and control systems with Bruin Formula Racing.
Experience
Digital Audio Visualizer
Sep 2025 — Present · Los Angeles, CA, US
Design and implement a real-time digital audio visualizer on an FPGA, integrating Verilog modules for signal sampling, frequency analysis, and LED matrix display control. Develop hardware logic to process real-time audio input signals using FFT-based frequency analysis, extracting amplitude and phase data across multiple bands to drive dynamic LED matrix visualizations with responsive color and intensity mapping. Optimize data flow between audio acquisition, FFT computation, and display modules through pipeline buffering and timing synchronization, ensuring smooth frame transitions, minimal latency, and stable visualization performance. Collaborate in a team environment to verify functionality through simulation, hardware debugging, and waveform analysis using Vivado and logic analyzers.
