Provide area-wide leadership for technical soil services to field offices and others that include soil databases, soil interpretations, and soil survey program; provide area-wide leadership for the National Food Security Act (NFSA) compliance for Highly Erodible Land and Wetlands. • Provide guidance/supervision to Area 1 Wetland Specialists and Elyon support staff in the design, development and maintenance of administrative procedures to assure delivery of programs and services. • Participate in field office quality assurance reviews, and make on-site soil investigations; and assist in the completion of the National Resources Inventory (NRI), NRI Pasture, and Conservation Effects Assessment Project (CEAP).• Participate on soil survey field reviews and sampling trips with MLRA project staffs; assist in identifying and solving problems in mapping, interpretations, and classification; and assist in evaluating soil surveys and recommending strategies for updating existing product.• Review and test the soil data and soil interpretations to improve the quality and usefulness of the information.• Provide training and guidance to Area and Field Office personnel on soil interpretations, soil health, and other soils information; and write technical and non-technical articles dealing with soil survey and use of soil information.• Complete preliminary wetland/HEL determinations, appeals, and 569 requests for the TMU(s) in coordination with field and area offices. Maintained Area 5 wetland compliance database.• Develop and implement customer-friendly solutions to assist USDA producers in maintaining compliance with conservation provisions of the 1985 Farm Bill, as amended.• Serve as Area 1 Wetland Leader training Area and Field Office personnel on wetland and conservation compliance methodologies, policies, and documentations.description in progress
