Fiercely committedto delivering value to customers, Lou Harveyhas proved through DALBAR that the businessprinciple of putting the customer first doeswork.Lou Harvey began his career doing research in physiology at the University of theWest Indies in 1961 but soon transferred into the newly emerging world ofcomputers with IBM until his emigration to the US in 1963.Shortly after arriving in the US, Lou Harvey’s career intersected with mutualfunds when he became an NASD Registered Rep. Softness in the emergentmutual fund market forced him into publishing for five years with LittonEducational Publishing and John Wiley & Sons, Inc.By 1970, Lou Harvey was back in the mutual fund industry, this time starting upnew businesses. The first start-up was Bradford Mutual Fund Services in Bostonfollowed by Bradford Trust Company in New York. Bradford Trust was thenation’s first limited purpose trust company.Lou Harvey left Bradford in 1976 and founded the DALBAR organization, where heremains its President. DALBAR has been credited with changing the way financialservices firms treat their customers.
