ABOUT LOUIS BREUNER

Louis Breuner is a dynamic and process driven public company accounting and finance leader offering combined big 4 public accounting/auditing and public company experience across high growth emerging technology, semiconductor and medical device industries. Highly versatile and passionate leader with a focus on building scalable and efficient processes in the accounting / finance space with the mindset of providing partners in senior leadership with the critical support needed for decision making and the peace of mind that external reporting and compliance are in check.Louis is currently the Corporate Controller at Transphorm, Inc. in Goleta, California. In this role, he is the owner of the global accounting and compliance function (including period close, SEC compliance, tax and equity administration) and leading the effort to scale financial operations with company growth and ramp to full-scale production. Prior to Transphorm, Louis served as the Controller at Sientra, Inc. in Santa Barbara, where he was responsible for all processes related to accounting and financial reporting including accounting operations (general ledger, AP and AR), external financial reporting (including consolidations and SEC filings), GAAP compliance and technical accounting, coordination of audits, equity and capitalization table administration, and tax filing and reporting. He was the strategic partner of the CFO in implementing and tracking company wide and finance specific initiatives and maintaining SEC compliance.Prior to Sientra, Louis was a newly promoted manager in the audit practice at KPMG LLP in San Francisco. During his time at KPMG, Louis worked on a diversified client base including, venture capital backed companies (startups), billion dollar special situations funds, and public fintech firms. In his past two years at KPMG Louis’ time was mostly focused on startup clients where he learned to work in constantly changing, dynamic environments and built skills in large data analysis and technical accounting on issues not commonly seen in the industry.Prior to working for KPMG, Louis Breuner obtained his masters degree in financial accounting from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. There he fine tuned his financial reporting knowledge and prepared for the CPA. Louis grew up in Lake Tahoe, where he learned to love the outdoors. In his spare time, he enjoys climbing, surfing, fishing, free diving and spearfishing.
