CEO and co-founder of PureLiving, an indoor environmental health and safety consulting firm in Beijing, Shanghai, and Suzhou, China. As independent advisors, we help our residential and commercial clients navigate the challenges of endemic pollution, low public awareness of health risks, and insufficient government regulation. ABOUT LOUIE CHENG
President and founder of PureLiving, an indoor environmental health and safety technology firm with operations in China, Hong Kong, India, Singapore, Australia, and the US. With over 25 years of global experience, I’ve supported clients across 11 countries and nearly 100 sites for Siemens in China alone. My expertise lies in optimizing local delivery through a centralized hub model, leveraging local partners while ensuring central QA/QC and a strong supply chain. I believe in using each partner\'s wins to reinforce others, creating a global portfolio.As a bootstrapped entrepreneur, I know the value of getting into the weeds—sometimes the best way to find a solution is to be in the field, directly alongside technicians to understand the problem firsthand. This hands-on leadership is rooted in my military background. Having served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army, with roles ranging from enlisted private to tank platoon leader to operations officer, I’ve adopted the ability to lead, adapt, and strategize under pressure—skills I carry into business every day.Collaboration is my passion. I thrive on working within an ecosystem—whether it\'s technology providers, real estate service firms, consultants, or vendors. For me, smaller pieces of a bigger pie are the key to growth, particularly for a smaller company.I’ve led innovation and transformation, both as a strategy consultant at IBM, head of Asia business development for Thomson Reuters, and within my own firm. From pivoting from residential to the commercial segment, services to technology development, and expanding from China to global markets, I embrace change. Throughout my career, I’ve championed the mature integration of technology, from vetting tech solutions to building our own suite of automation tools, whether local, tenant-level cloud solutions, or integrated with incumbent building management systems (BMS). We’ve incorporated real-time monitoring and data-led analysis, which has driven client stickiness and opened adjacent opportunities, including building automation and platform development.
