United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD)- Data Innovation and Capacity Branch - Statistical Capacity Management Section:* Lead organizer of the 2023 and 2024 UN Datathons, global big data and data science hackathons with global participation. In 2023 we had 500 teams from 110 countries and a total of participants. In 2024 we had 110 teams, mostly participating in-person in MedellĂn (Colombia) just before the Fifth World Data Forum in MedellĂn.* Co-lead and driving force behind the UN Global Network of Data Officers and Statisticians, a global professional network for statisticians, data officers, data scientists, and geospatial information experts with over 3200 members as of November 2024 (and growing);* Co-organizer of two webinar series with global reach: The Global Network Webinars with participants from the UN System, National Statistical Offices and others, and the UNSD Brown Bags for the UN System only. As of November 2024 I have organized 160+ events (with on avg. 120 participants) in a bit more than 5 years;* Secretary of the Global Network of Institutions for Statistical Training (GIST), a network of international and regional training institutions, working together build sustainable statistical capacities through efficient, effective, and harmonized delivery of training.* Developer of the Global Calendar of Statistical Events which has a special focus on capacity building events that are organized by regional or international organizations The calendar includes upcoming, current, and past regional or international events collected using web scraping techniques from 55+ sources and semi-automatized data cleaning, checking, and editing, all written by me in Python.
