I oversee Venture Outdoors\' fishing programs as well as the Pittsburgh First Catch Program, a program developed in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission through funding provided by the Richard King Mellon Foundation to connect Pittsburgh residents to outdoor fishing and kayaking experiences and environmental educational opportunities. In this position I am responsible for: overseeing a $250K Recruitment, Retention, and Reactivation (R3) Education Grant administered by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission in support of the Pittsburgh First Catch Program, and a $7,500 R3 Education Grant administered by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission in support of Venture Outdoors\' Vamos Afuera Pittsburgh Project; working alongside the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission to schedule, promote, coordinate, and instruct Fishing Skills Instructor Certificate Courses and Boating Safety Education Certificate Courses; working with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission Bureau of Outreach, Education, and Marketing to track participant engagement, evaluate, and improve program performance; procuring grants, contracts, and sponsorships in support of educational and community programming related to aquatic resource management and the Pittsburgh First Catch Program; developing aquatic resources management and conservation oriented lesson plans and curriculum; maintaining, repairing, and purchasing all fishing equipment; working with a variety of external partners to develop, coordinate, and host an array of fishing, boating, hiking, and environmental education-oriented educational programs and community events; and developing, scheduling, coordinating, and executing over 250 fishing, kayaking, and hiking experiences annually throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania.
