ABOUT LORRAINE ORR

Lorraine started her career the hard way, selling hardcopy encyclopaedias door to door in Australia, while backpacking after completing her Engineering Degree. Today Lorraine drives Business Transformation through risk management and organizational change. She is an experienced Management Consultant and Trainer, and expert in Information Security and Data Protection strategies Over the last twenty years, Lorraine has held various technical and management roles, driving Business Improvements by empowering people with knowledge and skills. Having a background in Systems Engineering & Project Management, she is an experienced professional who enjoys helping leaders to develop their risk strategies and to find cost-effective solutions to their business challenges, with focus on enabling teamwork Her current role as Executive Director for Risk, Compliance and HR draws on Lorraine’s recognised ability to coach and empower individuals while implementing process and system improvements Previous roles include Senior Consultant at BSI Cyber Security & Information Resilience (UK) Limited, having spent several years in Sydney as BSI Operations Director, before relocating to the BSI Group Head Office, London in security, risk, corporate governance and consultancy roles. She is a member of the Standards Committees CAR/01 for Continuity & Resilience, as well as IDT/001/0-/04 for Data Protection, and ISO TC 903 for Organizational Governance. She has gained secret level security clearance, through the Australian Ministry of Defence, the Bank of England and the UK Government. After achieving the Data Protection professional qualifications as CIPM and CIPP/E in 2017, Lorraine was the first IAPP qualified tutor appointed by BSI, to deliver these professional courses which focus on GDPR, European Privacy laws and governance frameworks.
