About Lori Smith

An assistant professor of communication at Marietta College, Lori Smith also is also chair of the Department of Communication, has advised the college chapter of the American Advertising Federation and is involved with teaching in the Freshman Year Experience program. Smith is the grant coordinator for WMRT/WCMO, securing underwriting grants from community organizations to help fund programming. She teaches Media and Society, Introduction to Advertising, Advertising Copy and Design and Advertising/Public Relations Campaigns. She has also taught Introduction to Public Relations, Consumer Behavior, Selling the Sea (The Business of Cruising) and Rock and Roll and American Culture.Smith worked for The Marietta Times in advertising and served as the Advertising Director for six years. While working for the Gannett Company, Inc, she won the President\'s Certificate of Achievement, a Top 10 Gannett manager award. She also worked as a Commercial Printing Consultant for The Marietta Times and The Huntington Herald-Dispatch. Smith graduated with honors from Ohio University with a degree in journalism (major in advertising) and her M.A. is from Marietta College. She also had completed additional graduate work at Ohio University and Ashland University.
