About Lorin Anderson

Lorin Anderson spent 17-years as an editor at the world’s largest golf publications before starting Lorin Anderson Consulting in 2005. In 2007, he launched Proponent Group, a business consulting firm designed to help golf instructors improve their businesses and career opportunities. In 2014, he merged Proponent Group into Golf Channel Academy and became Executive VP of the new venture designed to create a powerful marketing force dedicated to promoting high quality golf instructors. In 2017, Anderson moved into the position of Vice President, Instruction for Golf Channel while continuing to manage Proponent Group. He left Golf Channel in August 2020 and refocused full time on helping golf coaches grow their businesses through Proponent Group and its business consulting services. Before starting his own firm, he was GOLF Magazine\'s Managing Editor for Instruction. He joined GOLF in 1994 as a Senior Editor after working for six years covering the golf equipment and instruction beats for Golf Digest, Golf World and Golf Shop Operations magazines. As Managing Editor he coordinated the editorial, public relations and marketing of all of GOLF Magazine’s instruction-related editorial franchises including GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 Teachers, GOLF Magazine’s Top 25 Golf Schools and the World Golf Teachers Hall of Fame. Anderson has written more than 20 cover stories for GOLF and authored articles with Jack Nicklaus, Curtis Strange, Payne Stewart, Hal Sutton, Annika Sorenstam and many other touring professionals and dozens of the world’s top teaching professionals. He also co-authored GOLF Magazine’s Complete Book of Golf Instruction published by Harry N. Abrams, Inc. New York, NY and was the Executive Producer on the GOLF Magazine Top 100 Teachers: More Series of DVDs. Anderson was the magazine’s lead industry analyst handling more than 60 television appearances on CBS, NBC, CNN, ESPN and Golf Channel. His wife, Cheryl, is the 2006 LPGA National Teacher of the Year and is a Golf Digest Top 50 Best Teacher in America.
