In collaboration with the Viticulture and Enology Science and Technology Alliance (VESTA), designed curriculum and shepherded curricular paperwork for the Associate Degrees of Applied Science in Viticulture and Enology (2011) and the Certificates in Viticulture and Enology (2018) through the University and State of Ohio approval processes. Oversee the delivery of these associate degrees and certificates serving as a resource for curricular issues, program administration, marketing, advising, and recruiting. Build relationships with state industry members to recruit new students and establish appropriate field experience sites for students. Foster effective relationships with Ohio Grape Industries Committee, Ohio Wine Producer’s Association, other university grape-growing programs, and other VESTA affiliate schools. Attend state and national grape and wine industry events. Plan and execute two industry workshops per year. Plan and execute the Ohio Wine Competition. Serve as primary contact for the National Science Foundation’s VESTA sub-award to Kent State University Ashtabula.Identified opportunity to partner with new Hospitality and Event Management bachelor’s degree to create related certificate program in Brewing Technology. Launched new brewing certificate program in Fall 2021 which can be earned as both a stand-alone certificate and as part of the HEM degree.
