A life altering event happened while mountain biking on August 20,2022, which resulted not in a stroke but a diagnosis of “FND” Functional Neurological Disorder. I hesitate to remove this LinkedIn account because of the extensive history and connections made over the years. I currently await an SSDI appeal hearing. My daily symptoms range from seizures, paralysis, pain, drop attacks, tics, stuttering, dead stares, cognitive dissonance, memory loss and more. The physiological reality is disheartening enough, but anxiety and depression can be added to the mix. I do my best to keep a positive perspective and use any and all available resources. The FND diagnosis is rare and often quite misunderstood by medical and non-medical personnel. I no longer drive, I use a walker, and I have a part-time caregiver. I am open to any brain/body research being conducted. This is a journey that requires soul searching, empathetic acceptance and a willingness to adapt. Possibly I can turn this into an experience that didn’t happen to me but for me. I appreciate your LinkedIn connection, and therefore my profile remains active … thank you.
