About Loriann Seluga

As a transformative leader, I translate vision into action. My nonprofit oversight positions have included strategic planning, budgeting, volunteer recruitment, scheduling, reporting, and event planning – in short, I’ve done it all, changing “hats” at a moment’s notice. I am well-positioned to serve as a thought leader to a nonprofit board or executive team and drive an organization to fulfill its goals and mission.WHAT DRIVES MEI love to work with young people, guiding them to build a strong foundation of skills that will help them become successful, compassionate, capable adults. I am passionate about education; I spent a large part of my career connecting students and faculty at Yale University with technology, as well as holding volunteer leadership positions with a number of schools and coaching Lego League and FIRST Robotics teams for children and youth. I also love the idea of working for an organization that brings communities together to spearhead scientific research advancements – that kind of effort leads to infinite possibilities.MY VALUE PROPOSITIONMy expertise includes strategic decision-making, process innovation, financial management, and using technology to maximize efficiency. I am the behind-the-scenes person who gets things done. I love facing challenges, solving problems, organizing, and making things happen. Recognizing the need for a robotics program in our local area, we started one; I developed a business plan, wrote grants, raised funds, recruited coaches, and connected with community members. While I sat on the ResNet board, the organization incorporated, evolving from a steering committee to a 501(c)(3). I learned a great deal about nonprofit governance and writing bylaws. I love being able to connect target communities with opportunities. Leadership: I’m only as strong as my team, so I constantly strive to help my team members learn, grow, and achieve their goals. I recognize others’ strengths and empower them to make decisions. Financial stewardship: Having managed annual budgets up to $1.2m in professional and volunteerpositions, I’m great at minimizing costs and writing grants and proposals. Process improvement: My technology background enables me to manage IT infrastructure, train staff on computer systems, and use tech to execute processes like registration, scheduling, membership management, and communication seamlessly. Knowledge management: I excel at documenting processes and communicating complex concepts in accessible terms.
