ABOUT LORI WICHMAN

I am a retired AF Major. My Air Force career afforded me many opportunities. I have been a nursing instructor and have worked with high fidelity simulation during nursing skills lab, ACLS, PALS, EMT, and TeamSTEPPS classes. I have held leadership and management, and supervisory positions which were valuable experiences that have provided me with a strong foundation. I have supervised contract employees and civilian personnel. I have worked with civilian personnel on union issues. I have ensured competency for 1,600+ health care personnel has been met and documented appropriately. In the past I worked as an Infection Control and Prevention officer and have completed the Air Forces 6 week Epidemiology Prevention and Infection Control Course. I have worked closely with all department leaders to ensure Joint Commission, CDC, OSHA, AFOSH standards were met/exceeded. In addition I have completed Squadron Officer School, Nursing Service Management and various leadership and management classes. I have also been directly involved in several accreditation inspections; ACEN, AF Health Service Inspections (HSI), Unit Effectiveness Inspections (UEI), Joint Commission, Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and Inspector General (IG) inspectionsI have a strong interest in quality improvement, public health, infection prevention, staff development and nursing education/competency. Strengths include; nursing leadership and management, quality improvement, compliance surveillance, conflict resolution, time management, organizational skills, and patient advocacy. I have completed my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), specializing in Nursing Leadership and Management at Walden University.
