ABOUT LORI STROMNESS

After graduating with honors with my DNP, I’ve enjoyed exploring my first NP role in a busy urology clinic with complexities of pandemia. The pandemic has also opened the opportunity for a systemic and global collaboration for discovering how to unite and and access our own resilience and strengths as well and perhaps to “be the change”. One part of this is becoming a mindfulness in medicine student, developing my own practice and training to be a Mindful Practice facilitator. Another part is development and training for implementation of Peer Support. Urology also covers women’s health, hormones and sexual health which has become a passion of mine because I’ve seen firsthand the lack of education and providers in this area and it’s so important. Along with the stability of working for the same company since 2001, I\'ve been able to have the flexibility to enhance my skills with numerous volunteer opportunities. I\'ve been in charge of the medical tent at numerous music festivals and the logistics of organizing volunteers and medical supplies to ensure the safety of participants and transport via EMS if needed. Fiver years in a row, and anticipated to in the future, annually, I’ve joined a medical humanitarian mission to Uganda (once to Romania) with a group called Medical Mission Foundations. We provided the opportunity for surgery while collaborating with the local caregivers.
