ABOUT LORI ASKELAND
I currently am serving in two exciting new roles. In my first year as Township Trustee for Miami Township (Greene County, OH), my focus is policy analysis, crisis management, and fostering collaborative relationships with community members and local organizations across public/private sectors and across the Township. Which complements my other new role, serving as a Job Coach for young adults on IEPs doing internships at regional businesses and nonprofits through Project Life at the Greene County Educational Service Center. During my successful political campaign in Fall 2025, I secured financial and in-kind support while effectively communicating my vision, resulting in emerging as the top-vote getter in a competitive three-way race for two positions. I am also Professor Emerita at Wittenberg University, having served over twenty-seven years as an English professor mentoring students and conducting research on U.S. multi-ethnic literature and history, with a focus on adoption, foster care, and resistance to systemic violence. My ongoing research project examines the role of higher education institutions in historical struggles against colonialist and racist violence in Southwest Ohio.
