About Lorenzo Cinelli

My name is Lorenzo Cinelli, and I have a passion for designing electronics. I have been interested in electronics since I was nine years old, and my father fueled my interest in this field. My father gave me a full-sized workbench for me to work on projects in our garage, and this is where my passion for electronics truly began to grow. When I was in middle school, I created a mini ice-powered air conditioner using scrap parts in our garage. I also created a miniature RC snow blower out of old plastic school binders and a printer motor. As I entered high school, I began to work on bigger and more complicated projects, including LED color changing light vests, high-powered LED flashlights, and multiple high fidelity portable sound systems. I used Autodesk Fusion 360 and Solidworks to design my projects virtually before I create them in real life, and I also have experience with the use of 3D printers and laser cutters. I have designed all of the electrical circuits in my projects completely from scratch, and have refined my projects as time went on. In my sophomore year of high school, I was asked to join a FIRST Tech Challenge robotics team called the JDroids (team number 7026). As soon as I was inducted into the team, I became the head driver and an essential builder on the team. I routed all of the wiring for all of the sensors, motors, and servos on the robot in the cleanest fashion possible while maintaining electrical stability. In the past seasons, our team has been very successful with our robot, and never had any issues with the wiring on the robot. I also have taken a great interest in CAD on the team, and have worked with multiple local engineers in designing unique components for our robot. Our team has received the highest award available at the NJ States competition because of our implementation of custom 3D printed parts that a fellow team member and I created using Autodesk Fusion 360.
