ABOUT LORENZO BRAMANTI
My line of research focus on conservation, ecology and population dynamics of benthic suspension feeders. In the Mediterranean Sea I work on ecology, conservation and restoration of gorgonians, especially the precious Mediterranean red coral (Corallium rubrum). In the Caribbean I work in cooperation with California State University Northridge in the ecology and dynamics of octcoorals in US Virgin Islands, in the framework of a National Science Foundation (NSF) project. I also worked in the Pacific (Taiwan and French Polynesia), on the recovery dynamics of coral reefs and on the effects of Ocean Acidification on early life stages of scleractinian corals. I am scientific consultant for Djibouti Port Authority for Coral Reef conservation and restoration. I recently expanded my field of interests to the octcocorals in the mesophotic zone, with projects in the south Sardinia (Italy), Okinawa (Japan) and Moorea (French Polynesia). I have been recently nominated co scientific director of the Under The Pole expedition DEEPLIFE.
