ABOUT LORENA

An HR professional with 10 years of experience who is passionate about the employee experience. Employees spend about 1/3 of their lives at work, using their knowledge, skills, and abilities to help companies fulfill their missions. Considering that, I find it important to ensure that employees have a positive work experience. Typically, HR employees can be seen as the bad guys; we just hire and fire people, right? Wrong - many people forget that we are employees too, and that our jobs are much more complex that. So what can HR employees do to ensure a positive work experience, you may ask? We can keep the employee experience \"human\" and have open communication (as much as we\'re allowed) about changes in the work place. We can stay on top of our research of best practices and present cases to upper management about why we need to implement them in our organization. We can gather data from our own employees around current motivation and satisfaction levels to see where we can make positive improvements. We can keep a record of and remind upper management about the changes that we want to make now, but have to save for later. We can make sure that we have full knowledge about company policies, procedures, and benefits and find several ways in which to communicate these to employees, especially as they may evolve over time. There are many ways to ensure a positive employee experience, and the first step in this process is to remember that we are employees too.Happy employees = a successful organization. In my spare time, I enjoy listening to and creating music, playing at open mic nights, indulging in outdoor activities, exploring the city, spending time with friends, going for long walks with my dog and tending to my cats and plants. My bookshelf is overflowing with the topics of psychology, philosophy, thrillers and fiction. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Georgia Southern University and later fulfilled a Master of Science in I-O Psychology from Valdosta State University.
