As the executive director of CEMD, I lead a national organization that brings clarity to the curriculum and instructional materials landscape for leaders working to improve outcomes for students.My work is grounded in market dynamics, translating complex signals about policy, pedagogy, and products into shared intelligence to help district and state leaders, researchers, and others across the K–12 field make smarter, more equitable decisions about what students experience in the classroom.The throughline of my career has been my belief that teachers must have clear information, strong leaders, and quality materials to make great instruction possible. Over time, I’ve seen how frequently instructional decisions are constrained by incomplete information and how profoundly those choices shape instruction and, ultimately, student outcomes. That’s the gap CEMD exists to fill. Today, I spend much of my time listening to district and state leaders, researchers, and partners grappling with the questions behind curriculum adoption and implementation. What’s available? What’s changing? What does the evidence suggest? And what conditions are critical for success? Those conversations guide how my team builds tools, reports, and insights that are credible, unbiased, and usable. We don’t tell leaders what route to take.
