ABOUT LORA BYRNE
I am a Director of Patient Care Services at Children\'s Hospital Colorado (CHCO), where I lead nursing operations and care delivery for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Kidney Center and System Level Code Response Program. With over 25 years of nursing experience, I have developed a strong background in critical care, hospital management, operational change, and service excellence. I hold a Doctorate of Management in Organizational Leadership and Administration, an MBA, and two prestigious nursing leadership certifications: CNML and CNEF.My mission is to provide high-quality, safe, and effective care to our patients, while empowering and developing our nurses to succeed and advance within their careers. I am proud to work with an amazing team of healthcare professionals at CHCO, a nationally ranked pediatric hospital (Top 5 - USNWR)I am passionate about leading innovation and transformation in healthcare, particularly during times of crisis and uncertainty. I have demonstrated this through the successful launch of a new Intermediate Care Unit and its rapid reconfiguration to support COVID-19 surge operations. I have also developed and implemented strategic responses to workforce shortages and space constraints during the “tripledemic” and the Great Resignation. Most recently, I have effectively facilitated continuity of care across the PICU and Kidney Center in the face of emerging challenges, including the resurgence of highly infectious pathogens, escalating pediatric mental health crises, and the growing impact of school-related violence.
