ABOUT GUSTAVO HENNDEL LOPES
I am a senior social researcher, evaluator, monitoring specialist and learning facilitator with extensive experience and training in designing, conducting and managing commissioned projects for high-profile public sector and third sector stakeholders in the UK and across the international institutional system. My work informs programmes, policy, advocacy, practice and capacity building across the public, private and non-profit sectors in the UK and in many low- and middle-income countries.I specialise in mixed-methods and qualitative approaches and currently work across the education, skills and International Development sectors. Earlier in my career, I worked internationally in academic research and teaching in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). I am fluent in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish and regularly work in these languages. I also have a good working knowledge of German. I hold EU and Brazilian citizenship and have the right to live and work in the UK.With over 17 years\' experience across diverse roles, industries and disciplines, I have led and contributed to projects and proposal applications ranging from short-term, single-institution assignments to multi-year, multi-country initiatives. My work style is shaped by two key strengths:1⃣ Sharp performance and insight: I combine strong execution skills with a breadth and depth of experience across the entire research and evaluation cycle. This keeps performance at the heart of my technical approach and gives me a holistic perspective on my and my colleagues\' work. Lately, I have also been exploring responsible ways to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) where beneficial across my work.2⃣ An emphasis on my people skills and relationships: I prioritise connection, empathy and clear communication, which enables me to build professional relationships that foster trust, collaboration and creativity. I also have a keen awareness of organisational factors and workplace dynamics that affect research professionals, and I use this insight to enhance engagement and efficiency. My style is reinforced by training and practice in relational and communication approaches such as humanistic counselling, nonviolent communication, embodiment, coaching and emotional crisis support.I focus on making a positive impact and thrive when collaborating with purpose-driven professionals and organisations across the landscapes of research, evaluation, monitoring, policy, insights, technical assistance and training.
