Lonny is currently an Engineering Manager within Intel\'s Windows OS group. He drives platform-level initiatives around driver quality (e.g, servicing, Universal Windows Driver adoption) with the Intel driver teams and with Microsoft.Previously, in his almost 20 year tenure at Microsoft, Lonny worked in both individual contributor and development lead capacities. In the Interactive Entertainment Business (IEB) group, Lonny’s development and leadership responsibilities included drivers, security, deployment, and developer tools in the Xbox, Games for Windows – LIVE, and XNA groups.Prior to joining IEB, Lonny worked in the Windows division on security, hardware support infrastructure, and deployment. As development lead for Plug & Play, Lonny was a key design contributor to the Windows Driver Model (WDM), including the driver layering and extensibility model, drivers’ interaction with the kernel-mode Plug & Play manager, and device enumeration and notification mechanisms. Led an Intel-wide effort to convert all Windows drivers to comply with Universal Windows Driver (UWD) requirements. Also led a joint taskforce with Microsoft to identify and address issues within the OS and/or within Intel drivers impeding this conversion.Led a team of up to 7 software engineers responsible for development and operation of co-engineering infrastructure, including transfer of defect and requirement data between Intel and Microsoft. Developed a strong partnership with the Intel Client Computing Group to jointly develop build, deployment, and test automation infrastructure for a Continuous Integration system, and drove consolidation of the teams’ respective data repositories for unified collection, analysis, and reporting.Managed a senior lead with a team of up to 8 expert system-level debuggers who served as a resource for all of Intel in debugging complex problems involving interactions between OS, drivers, firmware, and hardware.Led a co-engineering bug management virtual team (1 report and 2 dotted-line reports), driving resolution for Microsoft-filed issues within Intel ingredient teams and Intel-filed issues within Microsoft via a jointly-run ship room forum.
