Direct strategic initiatives to reduce recidivism for $100M city agency supporting 10K at-risk clients. Collaborate with other city agencies with justice-involved clients (foster care, schools, public housing). • Built Free Verse, a publishing house operating out of a probation center waiting room, giving skills, jobs, pride to people connected to criminal justice system. Installed Poet-in-Residence to nurture the voices of 3.9K participants. Centerpiece of award-winning arts initiative. • Overhauled largest NYC nursery housing 1.5K children annually awaiting foster care placement. Redesign centered on interactive mural that facilitated staff-led programs reducing stress, improving social skills, reducing learning deficits. With NYC Administration for Children’s Services. • Forged multi-site, neighborhood initiative built around literacy to unite a diverse and fractured community and close the achievement gap. Completed 10 projects. 10 partners. Grew participation to 2.5K. With NYC Department of Education, Division of Family and Community Engagement.
