   At HSBC Bank USA, I worked on an AI-driven fraud detection and customer insights platform that transformed how the bank approached risk management and digital engagement. The goal was to modernize traditional fraud detection systems, reduce false positives, accelerate credit scoring, and provide customers with personalized, real-time banking experiences.The project centered on building a microservices-based, cloud-native architecture integrated with AI and real-time event streaming. Using Apache Kafka as the backbone, millions of daily transactions were ingested and processed in real time. I developed Spring Boot microservices for fraud detection and recommendations, secured them with Spring Security, and documented APIs with Swagger. Fraud models trained on historical data were deployed through AWS SageMaker and connected to Kafka pipelines, enabling the system to flag anomalies within milliseconds. This reduced manual intervention in credit scoring by 25% and lowered fraud false positives by 20%.Alongside fraud detection, we implemented a recommendation engine powered by MongoDB and SageMaker, delivering tailored offers such as loans or credit cards based on customer activity. These insights were exposed through GraphQL APIs built with AWS AppSync, allowing mobile and web apps to provide instant updates on balances, transactions, and fraud alerts without refresh. The frontend was React-based, supported by Jest and Enzyme for testing.All services were containerized with Docker, orchestrated with Kubernetes on AWS EKS, and provisioned with Terraform for consistency across environments. DynamoDB supported high-throughput operations, while MongoDB handled semi-structured data. We ensured observability through Prometheus, Grafana, and CloudWatch, with pipelines automated via Maven and Jenkins.The result was a secure, scalable, and resilient platform that enhanced fraud detection accuracy, improved customer trust, and modernized HSBC’s digital ecosystem.
