As a Nursing Assistant on the Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Unit at UNC Health, I support a dynamic interdisciplinary team caring for post-operative, trauma, and acutely ill surgical patients. In this role, I provide direct patient care including vital signs, mobility assistance, hygiene, and intake and output monitoring. I collaborate closely with registered nurses, physicians, and ancillary staff to ensure safe, evidence-based, and compassionate care. Through continuous observation, patient rounding, and effective communication, I help promote patient safety and a healing environment. This position allows me to strengthen my clinical judgment, teamwork, and foundational nursing skills in preparation for future professional nursing practice.
