About Logan Burnett

I am a graduate student at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor department of Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences (NERS), passionate about the intersection of Physics, Engineering, and AI. I completed my undergraduate degree in Physics with minors in Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, and Chemistry. My academic trajectory thus far has been enriched by immersive opportunities into both computational and experimental research domains, from utilizing national supercomputing facilities for high-fidelity simulation to irradiating targets with a 25MeV cyclotron. My research experience spans the fields of theoretical condensed matter physics, turbulence modeling for nuclear power applications, and isotope production for medical imaging. I am now in the Artificial Intelligence and Multiphysics Simulations (AIMS) working with Prof. Radaideh to develop digital twins for the next generation of nuclear reactors, with a focus on microreactor technology. By leveraging my experiences in both experimental and computational research methodologies, I aspire to contribute to the development of smaller, more affordable nuclear reactors. More importantly, I hope to employ a pragmatic approach in my research to accelerate the deployment of reactors from licensing to breaking ground on-site.
