ABOUT LAURA MAROTTA

Co-founder and Executive Director of the non-profit arts community center Creative Hub Worcester. Creative Hub Worcester provides equitable and accessible artistic and creative opportunities in the Arts for all Central Massachusetts community members through classes, events, incubator space, public art, and more. We believe that art heals and that art changes lives. Visit us: I hold a Masters in Arts of Teaching (Art Education) from Tufts University and The School of the Museum of Fine Arts. In 2008, I graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting with minors in both art history and photography. Art education requires complex and diverse strategies that are mental, physical, and emotional. Students draw strength from those strategies to be confident, caring, and open minded towards the world around them. Art education is a vehicle that can teach our children to comprehend that world. It can be used to make connections between the past and the present. An art education curriculum can excite and challenge our students so that they will become critical thinkers, successful learners, and confident, creative individuals.
