Leticia Colon de Mejias is a motivational speaker, the CEO of the Nationally awarded company Energy Efficiencies Solutions, Chair of the nonprofit Efficiency For All, Policy Co-Chair of the National Building Performance Association, a Commissioner for the state of Connecticut Commission on Women Children Elderly Latino & Puerto Rican Affairs, and founder and President of Green Eco Warriors a nonprofit which works to \"Create a Culture of Sustainable Thinkers\". She is an awarded published children\'s book author with several books on environmental leadership, sustainability, as well as a line of educational science based graphic texts (comic books) which feature diverse super heroes and align with national science standards. She is the recipient of the United States of America’s Department of Energy award for work with at risk and minority populations, National Tony Woods Award Building Scientist of the year award, Minority Small Business of the year award, National Department of Education award, and a two time Capital Workforce Partners employer of the year award. Her companies have provided energy efficiency assessments and upgrades to over CT households and completed full energy efficiency retrofits in over 10 million square feet of multifamily housing. Through her nonprofit Green Eco Warriors she has provided climate change and energy education to over youth and families. ABOUT LETICIA COLON DE MEJIAS
Leticia Colon de Mejias is a nationally awarded workforce development leader, building scientist, energy and climate action educator, published author, and clean energy entrepreneur. Her accomplishments range from business ownership, and expert policy testimony, action-based environmental conservation, energy equity planning, residential energy efficiency upgrades, environmental justice initiatives, community engagement, and youth STEAM education. She is the first Latina nationally awarded building scientist, Co-Chair of the nationally recognized workforce program operated by the nonprofit Efficiency For All, She is the Founder the nonprofit Green Eco Warriors; a CT nonprofit which takes action based approaches to Creating a Culture of Sustainable Thinkers ™ and provides climate education and environmental education for students and families. Her published award-winning books focus on life lessons and environmental leadership, sustainability, and energy and environmental conservation. Her line of comic books and educational science based graphic texts feature a cast of diverse superheroes and align with national science standards (NGSS). She is the recipient of many national awards. Her companies have provided energy efficiency assessments and upgrades to over CT households and completed full energy efficiency retrofits in over 10 million square feet of multifamily housing. Through the nonprofit Green Eco Warriors, she has provided climate and energy education to countless youth and families. Leticia seeks to awaken the inner Warrior with in us, and to help families find resilience, agency, prosperity, healing, and peace. Leticia was inducted to the ACI & Building Performance Institute Hall of Fame in 2015. Prior to her work in energy policy she was highly accomplished in the workforce development and healthcare management and research fields. She has received several national workforce program development awards and was a recipient of the HBJ 40 under 40 award, the 50 Top Latino award, SINA award, and the Maria Sanchez Award.
