I\'ve been poking around tech and computers and such since the early 90\'s. Some stuff I work on/think about- high-speed packet forwarding systems, from MIPS software based systems to more hardware flavors than I can remember. mostly system architecture; design tradeoffs- technical marketing and product management (no pure \"sales\" experience but a bunch of product expertise)- large-scale datacenter, service provider, and enterprise network designs (routing, switching, optical, and increasingly facilities)- software and systems administration and architecture- direct customer support (this was fun at the time, but I ain\'t going back here)My current universe is primarily NPU/ASIC based packet forwarding, network and system level scalability, hardware/software interaction and optimization, and system-level design. Other areas of interest include network processing hardware choices (ASIC v. NPU v. CPU based systems) and software architectures for high speed routing and packet switching, as well as mechanical design issues around power distribution, efficiency, and thermal designs for high end systems. Also lots of travelling to meet with customers and partners to identify requirements, capabilities, and provide design and deployment assistance.Specialties: ASIC/NPU architectures for packet forwarding (e.g. P4), high end routing/switching system design, network and system scalability, routing and L2VPN protocols (BGP, OSPF, VPLS, MPLS, other similar alphabet soup of TLAs), linux and other unix-like operating systems, failure detection and convergence analysis, power and thermal system design, performance analysis.I occasionally write Python to automate or simulate things I either can\'t or don\'t want to do another way. I can even more or less make VSCode do backflips and debug code with it.When not figuring out how to most efficiently sling around billions of packets per second, I jump out of airplanes for fun and play disc golf and ultimate.

   Accounting, Budgeting, Collaboration, Detailed planning, Employee management, Financial controls, Goat-roping, Helping the community, I can\'t think of something appropriate that begins with \'J\'!Took over as treasurer in the middle of a teeny little challenge (COVID pandemic!) which had reduced income to a small fraction of previous run rate. Helped create and implement the association survival, recovery, and growth plans.\"Treasurer\" sounds a bit pretentious, as a lot of the work is blocking and tackling on things like budgeting, tactical and strategic planning, program management, and handling the \"money\" side of human resources (payroll, benefits, taxes). From a base of near-zero, I learned a lot about accounting, even wrote a little bit of automation code for our Quickbooks system. Most of all, I get to work with some really really great people who are passionate about improving the community.
