ABOUT LIZZIE SMITH

I am a Partner in the Family Team at Stephens Scown LLP and advise on a wide range of private family law issues arising from relationship breakdown. I carefully consider with each client how to approach their case and how best to achieve their goals with the minimum of stress. I advise on the following- divorce (no-fault divorce), including jurisdiction and forum issues- financial settlements on relationship breakdown / variation of financial agreements- financial arrangements following an overseas divorce- financial arrangements for children- enforcement issues- protective injunctions (non-molestation and orders)- pre and postnuptial agreements / cohabitation agreements- child arrangements and relocation applications I advise a wide range of clients, including professionals, business owners, farmers, those with trust and pension assets (including Armed Forces or NHS pensions) and high net worth individuals. I have significant experience in cases with an international element and regularly advise on issues of jurisdiction/forum or on matters where assets are located abroad. I am a Collaboratively trained lawyer (where parties and their lawyers work together in a series of round table meetings to come to an agreement), however, where appropriate, I take a robust approach and advise on court proceedings where they become necessary. I am listed as a Next Generation Partner in Legal 500, and as Band 3 lawyer in Chambers and Partners. The family team at Stephens Scown is ranked as a Band 1 team in both Chambers and Partners and Legal 500. I am a member of Resolution and Chair of Somerset Resolution. I also sit on the committee for Bristol Resolution. I am Resolution Accredited Specialist in Advanced Financial Remedies (High Net Worth) and International Family Law.Whilst I am based in Taunton, I am able to advise and meet with clients at any of our other offices and can of course meet remotely if preferred.
