ABOUT LIZZIE GROUNDS
I focus on environmental, safety, health and ESG legislation and regulations. I have experience in advisory, transactional and regulatory client matters, including on CSRD/ESRS, ADR, due diligence and H&S and environmental compliance for client acquisitions including chemical, technology and beverage retailers. I contribute to the ESH practice group publication and business development collateral and I am an active member of the firm-wide Sustainability Committee. My early legal career experience included in-house legal/commercial and IP portfolio management roles and business leadership. I returned to a legal career after a break supporting HM Forces as an international army spouse/mother, running my own small businesses (in UK, Kenya and South Africa), organising large and small events and leading other projects, including a marine trust (Seas4Life) and an e-motorbike startup in Kenya (Skoot). I have recently graduated from a LLM Environmental and Energy Law and my broad knowledge and understanding of these sectors includes renewable energy, nuclear, oil & gas, environmental/energy finance, regulations, and pollution. My dissertation focused on the alignment of ESG initiatives with corporate sector investment to attain SDG14 and SDG15. I have also studied ‘Carbon Net Zero in Business’ (Cambridge University short course). I have knowledge of ESG, corporate sustainability and climate change and risk management principles and legislation, alongside reporting frameworks and legislation, carbon management and markets, the circular economy, biodiversity net gain and nature-based solutions.
