ABOUT ELIZABETH YOUNG
I\'m an internal audit and risk consulting partner with nearly 20 years of experience helping organisations across the public, corporate, and third sectors build robust governance and make better decisions. My career has taken me from in-house audit roles inside major organisations — including CBRE, one of the world\'s largest real estate services companies — through to leading risk assurance practices in some of Scotland\'s most respected professional services firms. Today, as Risk Consulting Partner at Forvis Mazars in Glasgow, I lead the development of our risk consulting practice in Scotland, working with boards, audit committees and senior leadership teams across a wide range of sectors. What I bring is straightforward: rigorous, independent assurance that is genuinely useful, not just technically correct. I engage at board level regularly, delivering risk workshops, board effectiveness reviews, and strategic advice on governance and internal control. I understand what good looks like because I\'ve seen it from both sides — as a practitioner advising boards, and as a non-executive director and trustee sitting on boards myself. My particular areas of focus include governance, risk management, internal control, and ESG assurance. I\'m a member of the ICAS Audit and Assurance Panel, a member of the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors, and have been named previously in the ICAS Top Young CAs.I\'m also passionate about widening access to the accountancy profession. I\'ve mentored students through the ICAS Foundation for over ten years because I know firsthand that talent is evenly distributed, but opportunity isn\'t always. Outside of work, I’m a mum to a curious young engineer-in-the-making who keeps me on my toes.If you\'d like to discuss how effective internal audit and risk management can add real value to your organisation, I\'d be very happy to connect. Based in Scotland
