About Liz Hauser Hemme
I\'ve spent over 19 years in animation, growing from a lighting artist at Reel FX in 2006 to visual effects supervisor today. Along the way, I’ve helped shape the studio from our early days in Deep Ellum, TX, to a thriving creative force in Montreal. My journey has brought me the privilege of collaborating with studios like Netflix, Paramount, Sony, Warner Bros, and Universal, always driven by a love for storytelling and teamwork.I began my career lighting and compositing on projects like Disney’s Enchanted and The Simpsons Ride, later leading lighting on films including Open Season 2, Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Furious Five, and Watchmen: Tales of the Black Freighter. My first role as lighting supervisor came with Open Season 3 for Sony.I’ve since supervised lighting on Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas, Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem (VES Award winner), and one of my proudest achievements—The Book of Life, directed by Jorge Gutierrez and produced by Guillermo del Toro (Golden Globe Nominee). That film’s heart and artistry remain a career highlight.During the pandemic, I helped bring Rumble to life with Paramount and vfx supervised Calesita, Reel FX’s first short film, which won at Annecy. More recently, I was lighting supervisor on Netflix’s The Monkey King and now serve as VFX supervisor on The SpongeBob Movie: Search for Squarepants, set for release this December.I\'m driven by the energy of diverse, passionate teams and the challenge of crafting beautiful visuals through smart, efficient workflows. I believe creativity thrives in good collaboration and that film has a unique power to connect us all.
