The Newborns Genome Programme is a strategic initiative aiming to design and deliver a research study over the next three years to explore the benefits and challenges of using whole genome sequencing to screen for childhood-onset rare actionable genetic conditions, accelerate research into treatment and diagnostics, and explore the implications of storing an individual’s genome for lifetime. Based in the Science and Clinical Directorate, I work closely with NHSE, maternity and child health services, the genomic medicine service alliances and other healthcare professionals to deliver the implementation strategy for the Generation Study. Now overseeing the study set-up and exciting recruitment operations at more than 45 NHS Trusts.
