ABOUT LIZA MAYER

After a decade of immersing herself into the world of jewellery and gemstones as editor of Jewellery News Asia (JNA) in Hong Kong, Liza Mayer brought her editorial expertise and solid journalism experience to other industry-leading magazines in Canada. Since moving to Vancouver in 2008, Liza has led the editorial teams of world-class B2B publications for the resource mining and exploration industry, shipping and marine fuels and, today, the aquaculture industry. Liza is the editor of Aquaculture North America (ANA), a bi-monthly magazine for aquaculture industry professionals in the region. Prior to joining ANA, she was the editor of Bunker Bulletin, a companion magazine to the bunker industry\'s leading resource, Bunkerworld, owned by Platts. Liza is an expert in magazine production management, including editorial calendar planning and flat-plan development. In today’s digital workplace, she excels in stimulating cooperation among staff writers, sales staff and contributors who are geographically spread out. She has reinvented herself as producer of content in this age of Content Marketing, and counts as regular clients the organizer of the world’s No. 1 jewellery trade event and a leading Belgian PR firm. Liza held roles in publications in Manila and Bangkok earlier in her career. Her unquenchable thirst for knowledge and sense of adventure have led her to move to Thailand to work for a top English daily. Two years later, Jewellery News Asia presented her with the challenge of covering the highly competitive global jewellery industry out of Hong Kong. As JNA editor for 11 years, Liza developed a network of key industry players and influential industry leaders. She also had the opportunity to visit diamond and gemstone mines, pearl farms, jewellery centers and trade shows worldwide. With her industry expertise and editorial skills, Liza was instrumental in helping JNA earn the reputation as Asia’s leading jewellery trade publication.
