ABOUT LIZ BYRNE

I\'m a fundraiser, producer, researcher, writer and administrator, with extensive experience in bid-writing, social media communication, managing budgets, handling archives, working with young people and creative practice. I\'m passionate about the Arts and their power to change the world for the better. My role at the Golden Thread Gallery as Development Manager includes fundraising, profile building, finding new opportunities for collaboration and co-creation, planning, creating digital content, social media marketing, and supporting the Co-Directors in managing finance and operations. I led the redevelopment of our gallery website from inception to launch, and led our Art Fund Museum of the Year campaign from application to being a finalist.I joined the GTG in August 2019, seeking new funding and partnerships for the Gallery to support its strategic development and vision for the future. My previous experience includes a six-month internship role at Seven Stories, the National Centre for Children’s Books in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, drawing from its archive Collection to help develop new programming, learning and outreach ideas. I previously worked at the BBC Current Affairs for 12 years, producing films for Panorama, Spotlight NI and BBC Three. I hold an MA in Creative Writing from Queen’s University, and my short stories have been published in the Honest Ulsterman, Blackbird, the Re:Sisters new writing anthology and the Something About Home collection, edited by Prof. Liam Harte. Originally from Dublin, I\'m proud to call Belfast home.
