About Liz Barrett
An award-winning writer and editor, I have covered everything from baseball to brain surgery. When the newspaper industry was taken over by huge conglomerates and the freelance market basically went bust, I went back to school, got a paralegal certificate, and went to work for a small IP law firm. That was a great experience, but I am a journalist at heart. I have continued to edit a quarterly regional magazine and now am a part-time copy editor and feature writer for a nonprofit community news organization.
