About Liz Barr
My long-term goal is to create resilient, socially equitable places. Both my research and professional experiences continue to focus on identifying landscapes burdened with social, economic, and environmental inequities and investigating holistic, metric based solutions to transform them into community assets.Background: I have had the opportunity to work on master planning and site design projects that range vastly in scale and cross many disciplines. I am passionate about creating timeless designs that are both ecologically and culturally sensitive while carrying enough foresight to persist as productive landscapes well into the future.My design background spans from working with GIS and 3D modelling software on regional master plans to generating site-specific designs and construction documents to crafting branding and marketing packages for small businesses and national policy planners. My professional work experience and my educational background have equipped me with a unique skill set, rigorous work ethic, and interpersonal skills that would be an asset to any team.Additional Professional Goals:• Participate in the transformation of postindustrial voids into an ecological, socially equitable powerhouses.• Advocate for marginalized communities that are directly impacted and compromised by proximity to toxic sites through outreach, research, and design.• Impart gained knowledge to students in order to facilitate the growth of a burgeoning body of knowledge surrounding socially and environmentally challenging landscapes. • Broaden the scope of the profession with a greater exposure to holistic discussions surrounding the evolution and development of postindustrial remedial design.
