About Liv Biesemans
I am Group Deputy General Counsel at Kindred Group Plc, one of Europe’s most successful public online gambling companies. Joining Kindred in 2012, from a top-tier Brussels law firm, I now head the Regional Legal and Compliance Departments in the US and the UK as well as the Group\'s award winning Legal Department and Group Data Protection Officer. Together with my teams, I\'m overseeing the set-up of our legal and compliance operations in the US as well as driving and supporting the Group\'s global legal, regulatory and compliance strategy in a fast-paced international environment. I was also closely involved with the 2015 acquisitions of Stan James and iGame. In April 2017, the Kindred Legal Team was awarded \"Best Legal Team 2017\" at the (Gambling Compliance) Global Regulatory Awards for guiding the business through an increasingly complex legal and regulatory landscape and for their outstanding contributions to the overall industry. In May 2018, the Kindred Group Legal Team was awarded \"Best Team in the Industry\" at the International Women in Gaming Diversity Awards for delivering change in equality, diversity and inclusion My primary motivation is to efficiently guide the business through a complex, ever-changing legal landscape and manage an ambitious team of legal experts. I am a qualified attorney and hold a Master\'s degree in Law from the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium), including an Erasmus Exchange at the University of Stockholm (Sweden), as well as an LLM in Intellectual Property Law and EU Competition Law from Liege University. During my traineeship at the Brussels Bar, I participated in a national exchange project, working for a law firm in the Democratic Republic of Congo (Lubumbashi, Katanga) for 4 months focusing on a variety of contentious matters and human rights cases. This was a truly eye-opening and challenging experience, which I still treasure to this day.
