About Liyana Lina Ishamuddin

I am an Aerospace Engineering student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (graduating Dec. 2025) with experience in vehicle design, testing, and systems integration across both the automotive and aerospace sectors. My internships at Stellantis gave me hands-on exposure to mechatronics, electric propulsion validation, and aerodynamics testing, where I contributed to projects that streamlined component specification, validated BEV propulsion models, and conducted aerodynamic tests in full-scale and 3/8-scale low-speed wind tunnels.On campus, I’ve led a technical team involved with NASA’s RASC-AL competition, where we designed Martian surface logistics systems and presented them at NASA-level reviews. I’m also involved with Women in Aerospace, where I serve as a mentor to support new students as they begin their career journeys, as well as contribute to community outreach programs to foster the next generation of women engineers. I also bring a collaborative and creative side as a long-time member and former business manager of the Illinois Rip Chords A Cappella group, where I’ve combined leadership with community engagement.Outside of engineering, you’ll usually find me playing pub trivia, riding roller coasters, or singing in the car with my friends.
