ABOUT LISA VAN HEMERT

I have an MBA from the U of C and spent 20 odd years working in the energy industry, in roles including financial analysis, acquisitions and divestitures, business development, oil marketing, logistics and deal making.Throughout my career, I set out to know as many people as I could in the oil patch. That effort gave me a large network that opened doors for me in every job I’ve had since then. It also made me want to help others learn how to network.In 2007 I created the group Women Working in Calgary (WWC). It was designed to invite women to network without any format or rules. The membership now has over men and women on LinkedIn though we no longer have the in-person events.In 2022 I joined Lux Modus, a company that creates accurately mapped 3D digital models of large infrastructure. Our solution is used to visualize and plan construction, maintenance and operations on large infrastructure and reduce project risk. Our tool is easy to use, our tech is inexpensive, and we produce the models within minutes. Today I am an owner of the business and I’ve helped expand our customer base into four new market verticals – including the power industry and commuter rail, where we have been working with a variety of municipal transit authorities to help them plan for maintenance activities on their tracks and in their stations.In addition to my activities at Lux Modus, I own a company that trades in pipeline capacity, and I have a stake in a new express hair services salon called \'Identity. The Express Bar.\' here in Calgary.
