WORK HISTORY
Attorney - Cannabis, Psychedelics, Corporate & Litigation, Mediation Arbitration @Pittman Legal
Austin, TX, US
Pittman Legal represents everyone in the cannabis supply chain from investors to farmers on operational, corporate, regulatory, licensing, and litigation including partnership disputes, breach of contract, and product liability. Since the introduction of the 2015 Texas Compassionate Use Act, I have worked on cannabis and psychedelics legalization and assisted clients in acquiring licenses and starting businesses. The cannabis industry faces huge obstacles to navigate due to federal illegality, the hemp industry is in the crosshairs of DEA/law enforcement at.4% THC and inconsistent state positions on cannabinoids like delta 8, and FDA has not regulated CBD. Contradictory laws require skill and experience to develop successful risk mitigation strategies. I worked to help get Texas’ Hemp Act passed in 2019, and in 2020, I was appointed to the Texas Department of Agriculture Commissioner’s Industrial Hemp Advisory Council and to Rice University’s Baker Institute of Public Policy’s Drug Policy Program as a Non-Resident Fellow. In 2020 I earned the National Law Journal 2020 Trailblazer Award for Cannabis Law, and the Texas Lawyer Trailblazer Award and was named Chair of American Bar Association\'s Cannabis Law & Policy Committee. In the ABA, I am a Vice-Chair on the Business Litigation, Corporate, and Product Liability Committees. The largest North American association of attorneys, the ABA provides me a network of leading attorneys everywhere. I also have curated professionals in banking, insurance and tax.My twenty-five year experience in commercial litigation shapes my contract negotiation to avoid litigation. I offer outside general counsel services for on call guidance on daily issues at a flat rate. My unique trial and multi-state cannabis industry experience allows me to be an educated and effective mediator and arbitrator. My goal is to help you succeed, to connect you to people and information, and to serve as your dedicated business advocate.
