About Lisa Denike Ercolano

I\'m a writer, editor, content creator, and strategic communications expert with more than 30 years of experience reporting and writing for daily and weekly newspapers, and magazines, and working in university communications/marketing and media relations positions. Currently, I work for the Office of Marketing and Communications at the Johns Hopkins University\'s Whiting School of Engineering, where my responsibilities run the gamut from reporting and writing content for the school\'s website, online news hubs, magazines, and newsletters, to working with university media relations reps on identifying and promoting stories to the external news media, to managing and creating content for WSE\'s digital presence, to ensuring quality and consistency of communications to internal audiences. I also have experience as a writer and project manager for video news releases.(Special expertise: editing for AP Style.) Previously, I served as a media relations representative for Johns Hopkins University\'s science departments, where I worked with members of the local, national, and international news media on stories about research being done at Johns Hopkins. My job was to identify great stories and sell those stories to members of the media via news releases, online articles, videos, and direct pitches. I did this successfully, working with reporters and placing stories in publications including the New York Times, NPR, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, the Baltimore Sun, the Huffington Post, Inside Higher Ed, and more.
