About Lisa Carey Moore

I am a Director on the Buildings Team, part of the Impact Group, at Living Future. My goal is to inspire, support, and celebrate the achievements of clients pursuing our Living Building Challenge, Core Green Building, Zero Energy, and Zero Carbon Certifications. Specifically, I work with clients and their teams considering registration for our certifications for the first time, or looking to scale their work with us, whether through one project or many. Before joining Living Future, I spent a decade as a sustainability analyst/consultant at Integrated Eco Strategy (now Materially Better). I became an expert on building material chemistry, product embodied carbon, and other sustainability metrics to support clients pursuing LEED and the Living Building Challenge. What I appreciate about the design process is that good outcomes require collaboration across disciplines. In this manner, new ideas emerge that allow for building product teams and the communities they serve to transform the process and the product. I\'m eager to share my knowledge and network to learn new ideas, and have presented at regional and national conferences on healthier materials and the Living Building Challenge. Before engaging with building owners and makers, I focused my energy as an advocate outside the built environment, specifically on wetlands and waterways. Highlights of my work include serving as the Director of Public Policy for Save the Sound (now part of CT Fund for the Environment) to secure critical federal and state funding and policies for upgrades to wastewater facilities, wetland remediation, and other improvements to benefit the Long Island Sound estuary. Within this capacity, I also was selected as the Public Outreach Coordinator for the Norwalk River Watershed Initiative, an award-winning pilot project funded by EPA Region I, USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service, and the CT Department of Environmental Protection to address water quality and land use issues within this basin draining to Long Island Sound. I\'ve always looked for ways to support my communities and further causes outside of my work, too, and have been active in the Hoosic River Watershed Association, Paige\'s Butterfly Run, the Town of Dewitt\'s Conservation Advisory Committee, Built Environment Plus, the Silent Spring Institute, and the Northeast Hub of the Carbon Leadership Forum.
