1. Memorial Healthcare System

   May 2002 — Present

   Memorial Healthcare System\'s employee volunteer program called H.E.R.O.(Healthcare Employees Reaching Out) began in 2002 in order to provide employees a venue to connect with our community as a volunteer. I maintain a minimum of 25% of employee registration for the program. Through partnerships developed with local organizations, municipalities, agencies and non-profits I am able to develop and offer more meaningful projects that include service hours and a variety of donation opportunities for our HEROs. Another added value is the leadership experience it provides employees. By leading a project or event, staff are given valuable leadership opportunities while volunteering, developing an important skill set. Several departments utilize volunteerism as a team building project. We discover what the group wishes to achieve and create a project to fulfill those needs building teamwork and satisfaction that they have made a difference in their community. The recognition for volunteers who are nominated and voted by their peers is an important component to the program. It demonstrats to volunteers that their gift of time is truly valued and those that go that extra mile are recognized system wide.
