From Artist to Therapist: My Journey to Helping Relationships ThriveMy journey to becoming a therapist started when I worked as an art instructor. After earning my MFA, I taught classes at our Studio, TuckerWorks. While creating art, my students often shared personal stories and challenges. I enjoyed listening to how they were working through their difficulties. Many of their difficulties centered around relationships.In 2017, I began assisting Craig Tucker, LCSW, with organizing the Art and Science of Love Workshops. Watching the transformative impact of the Gottman Methods on couples inspired me to pursue another graduate degree in counseling. I wanted to work along side Craig as a Gottman Therapist.I started building my clinical skills by training as a narrative therapist. I helped individuals re-frame their stories to find strength and resilience. Over time, I gained experience in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). This method effectively treats trauma and its long-term effects. I also focused on helping adults with ADHD navigate challenges in their relationships. To deepen my expertise, I completed three levels of Gottman Method training. This training expanded my understanding of relationship dynamics and tools for repair. Now, I am working toward full Gottman Certification to better support couples and strengthen their connections.I use my Narrative approach and the Gottman Method to focus on client strengths. Through this focus, I help couples create a new story of wellness. Working with couples is a privilege, as I collaborate with them to develop a plan. Then I guide them in building the skills needed to transform their relationship. Through this process, positive change becomes possible.

   Crafting a Clear Vision to Support CouplesLisa and Craig Tucker offer Gottman Art and Science of Love workshops on the 2nd weekend of each month, intensive \"marathon sessions,\" and couples counseling. Craig is a certified Gottman therapist and Lisa has completed Gottman levels 1, 2, and 3. She is currently on the certification track to become fully certified. TuckerWorks will also be offering Gottman Level 1 training in February 2026.Craig and Lisa wanted to create a space specifically designed for the Art and Science of Love Workshops. Until this point, they had been doing the Art and Science of Love Workshops at local hotels, which can feel a little impersonal. They wanted to have a cozier environment: one that would create a total experience for the workshop. Outside, the grounds have lovely gardens and patios. These create cozy, private spaces. They wanted a space for couples to privately practice Gottman interventions while enjoying nature. Inside the historic home, thoughtful details enhance both comfort and the overall learning experience.Couples attending events at TuckerWorks report:Regina: “The space was beautiful and delightfully decorated.
