About Lisa Molomot

I am a documentary filmmaker currently based in the American Southwest. In recent years, my work has focused on immigration and immigrant communities, as well as public education in the U.S. In 2023, I won a Peabody Award for MISSING IN BROOKS COUNTY, a documentary about migrant deaths in Texas. We have held impact screenings at the Capitol in Washington D.C, the Texas State Capitol, the UN\'s International Office on Migration (in London, Berlin and Paris), Mexico City, and Cuba. I also teach filmmaking to undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Arizona and was a Fulbright scholar in Canada in 2019. While in Toronto, I made the film SAFE HAVEN which tells the story of U.S. war resisters who seek refuge in Canada. In 2023, I received the Poynter Fellowship in Journalism from Yale University and recently completed a 2-years position on the steering committee of the film collective New Day Films. And finally, for the past 3 years, I have been working on a documentary about an archaeology project in Tucson, where I have been living for the past 11 years. To learn more, visit my website:
