ABOUT LISA MARR

I used to write about business, now I co-own one. My official title is CEO for Grace Instrumentation & Controls Ltd, a family-owned business. At Grace, I am responsible for executing our business strategy, combing through contracts, helping our fabulous staff find training opportunities, marketing, and planning as well as managing our operating budget as the company evolves and grows. Some of my best lessons come from the inspiring entrepreneurs I was fortunate to meet during my time working in Hamilton. I have more than 20 years in journalism, the last 10 focusing on business. Highlights include working with some of the best journalists in the country at The Hamilton Spectator, and was nominated and winner of some awards. Also spent time with CBC Radio and many other small newspapers in Ontario. In 20••••11 my husband and I took sabbaticals and sailed with our three children from Port Dover to the Bahamas and back - our lifelong dream. I am also a committed volunteer as the program coordinator and co-founder of the Port Dover Yacht Club Sailing School, a non-profit sports organization as well as volunteering at other non-profit and community organizations including the Norfolk County Public Library board. During the Covid pandemic I\'ve launched another business, Myrtle\'s Art & Antiques (myrtlesart.ca), check out the blog and the stuff. Some might say my resume is the result of a series of mid-life crises. I just don\'t want to be bored.
